monitor problems, would appreciate any help.

Hello, all. I am having problems with my monitor.

Here are the symptoms:

Turn on the computer and the monitor properly shows the DOS start-up process. Then it starts to show the Win-Xp startup screen. When the computer boots to windows, the monitor turns black and does not work from then on.

Any ideas on what's going on?

The monitor is the Sony-Trinitron GDM-17SE2T

Mabey your windows resolution is set too high. Try booting into safe mode.

Sounds like either an improper refresh rate or unsupported resolution.

Safe mode ---> changing refresh/resolution to default

That SHOULD fix it.

Maybe your monitor is unable to show color

is there any way to change the resolution without going into safe mode? It doesn't display a picture in safemode either.. just in DOS.

The OS is WinXP
