Monitor Problems, Vid Card not the culprit!!!

For the last little while I've been complaining about how I can't get my 19" Viewsonic Ps790 to run in 1152x864 res without getting any banding on the screen. There are no color distortion just banding that makes the image very hard on the eyes. I though the culprit was my MSI Geforce2 Pro, so today I borrowed a Prophet4500 to test on my comp. Guess what, the same banding happened with the KyroII. I installed the actual Viewsonic monitor Inf files just to make sure but it still happening. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this to happen. I live near power lines but the Samsung 955Df upstairs doesn't have this problem and it's using the exact same type of video card. Any help in appreciated.

How old is the monitor? It might be starting to show its age. I know my old Acer wouldn't go above 1024x728 a few months before the capacitor blew out and disabled the monitor.

Year and a half old. It's still covered under it's 3 year parts and labour warrantee. My store says he'll warrantee it for me but they don't make this model anymore, I'll probably end up with a PF790.

I would by all means do that then, if they offer a 3 year warranty then take them up on that. It's your right as a customer (as long as you didn't drop it of course 🙂).

That's what I thought as well, just wanted some outside input. It kinda looks like an old TV with the banding lines, but 1024x768 is fine for now. Oh well I hope I can warrantee it.
