monitor problem

i have a 17" Phillips Billiance monitor that i bought about 6 months ago. I am running win 98 with a 1.4ghz althon and 512 MB on an ASUS A7A266 mobo. Anyways, if i dont use it for like 20 min, it shuts off. Now i'm not stupid, i know this is a power saving feature but i think its kind of annoying, i would just like to be able to shut it off myself, any idea how? I already checked messing with the monitor (the controls on the monitor), with the power settings and stuff like that. this isn't a pressing issue, just kind of annoying

The more annoying thing that happens, is when i leave the monitor off for a long time (like longer than 4 hours), but the computer on, the monitor doesnt come out of its away state. I moved the mouse, keyboard, everything, even turned it off and on again. Nothing happens. This is very annoying because then i have to restart my computer in order to get it to work.

Thanks in advance for the help

there is no "turn off monitor option"

i only have a "Go on system standby" and "turn off hard disks" or something like that, both of those are checked never

Go into where you set your screen saver and see if you can find an option there.

nope, just brings up the same power management thing as before, do you think it might be a problem with somethign like the bios (thats all i can think of.......)

1- have you checked the suspend to off feature in the power section of the BIOS?
2-Control panel> Display> Settings> Advanced> Monitor> make sure the reset display on suspend/resume box is checked
hope this helps
