monitor problem

I have just bought an Iiyama 24" screen Prolite B2409HDS. It will only work with a DVI to VGA adaptor connected to my graphics card( as it only has DVI connectors). and connecting to the VGA socket on the monitor. If I connect the DVI cable it boots up to the desktop then goes to black and displays the messgae "Input Not Supported". I have never encounterd this before. I took the monitor back to the supplier and it worked on DVI just fine. There must be a problem with the set up somewhere, but I am at a loss where to start. I run 2x9800GTX+ in SLI
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

It is telling you that you have either the resolution or the refresh rate outside of the range the monitor supports. Look in the user manual for the resolutions it supports and set the video to those before you connect the monitor.

Thanks for the input. I have been working on it and updated the graphics drivers, which were only 5 weeks old, and now it works. Can't believe that it cured the problem.
Anyway thx for the response.
