my monitor keeps shutting off on its own. It will stay on for about 30 seconds, and then will just shut off
It is about 1 1/2 yyears old, and is a philips brillance 107p.
I'm thinking that something might be overheating...any ideas?
Also, when it shuts off, it makes a clicking noice, i dont know if that means anything

thanks

If you think the monitor is overheating, blow off the dust with a can of compressed air - or even a hair dryer set to cool (or a vaccum on reverse, but those tend to blow hot air). Try setting either a large room ran, or AC unit next to your monitor and see if that has an effect. If not, then chances are you are probably not experiencing a heat-related problem. I think it more likely has to do with the electricity flowing to your monitor. Is it hooked up to a UPS? Perhaps it should be if it is not? I would defintely say change the socket your monitor is connected to - if its on a wall socket, just for testing, run an extension cord from another part of your house and try that (any part thats not on the same circuit would work). I guess you need to give some more info as to your setup in order to better diagnose the problem.

If you can, try another monitor on that system to eliminate the video card. Then see if you can get your monitor plugged into another system to see if does the same thing there.
