Monitor problem: Signal Timing

Hi there,
I have a question dealing with my video. I have a Mitsubishi 22" Diamond Plus 200 monitor and a Leadtek 64mb Geforce 2 GTS video card. After my pc goes into stand-by mode, I move the mouse to wake it, and a red square pops up stating:
"Attention...Signal Frequency is out of range. FH->27khz FV->61hz Please change signal timing." I am running 1280x1024 @ 32 bits true color. I also have another problem... When my screen is darker (ex: dark parts while playing Counter Strike or sometimes a plain black screen...Even some lighter screens.... There are tiny dots that sometimes flash across the screen. What are they !?!?!?

I would suggest that your video card may have defective RAM on it since usually random dots are caused by a faulty bit inside a memory chip.

Thanks..im guessing that wouldnt be good =( any other idea b4 i go messing with the card...and how do i switch the settings for the monitor? any ideas =)?

this isn't necessarily the answer to your problems, but just some thoughts:

1. the signal frequency problem seems like either the computer/video card is trying to run the monitor at an unsupported refresh rate. I am not sure why it would do that only after waking from sleep, but you might try fiddling with your refresh rates to see it that helps (usually under display settings-->advanced).

2. the dots in your games are called "artifacting." This could be caused by a bad video card, but it can also be caused by overclocking your RAM or videocard. It means that the video card is not running properly and there is some data loss (the missing data is filled in by solid colors/dots). Try running your system with the timings at a more stable level. You might also try upgrading your video card drivers.

I might be full of $hit, but that's what I would try.
