Monitor prob,prob with 1024*768

When i attach my monitor to my old p1 it supports 1027*768.But not with this system,why,can i do anything about it?Can i correct it?

Also is there any way that i can run my apps and games in xp at 640*480,those that support only 1024*768 from the video setup.On clicking on properties of the app there is a choice but even with it i couldn't make it correct.
What should i do?
I can't buy a new montior now?
 
You need to check your monitor properties, perhaps you have the wrong driver installed. Your 14in might not even support 1024, but you can just uncheck "hide modes this monitor can not display".
