Monitor popping noise???

When my monitor is off, once in a while it makes a loud popping noise, which kinda gets annoying soemtimes. I noticed a few other people have the noise too (from reading past posts). What is it, and how can i fix it?

btw, i have a Viewsonic E771-4.

Do you mean as soon as you turn it off? Contraction noises as it cools?

This might seem like neffing, but this is the first time I've ever seen your 'id/name'. Very original... since you a golden member, I'd imagine that you've posted quite a lot... but this is the first time I've ever seen you around. Very nice and original... applause...

I have a Hitachi CM771, and when it goes into power save mode, it makes that sort of popping hissing noise and goes in between modes like it can't make up it's mind... then finally goes into standby mode... any relation? My old 19inch Dell never did that... just went into standby nice and quietly...

all tv's/monitors go thru that. most of the time you hear it when you first turn it on, and then when it shuts off. it is just from certain components that expand/shrink when heated and cooled, they can make popping noise. The popping should not affect the operation of the unit.

Try lowering ur refresh rate to somthing approoved for the monitor, i have heared of monitors poping or burning out because of too high refresh rates, try 75-85

mine makes a popping noise, and then it shuts itself off. seems to only happen 15 minutes or less into a cold start. KDS will replace it though. Lucky me.

lol... i used to post a lot right when anandtech moved to the cold fusion forum. Been too busy lately.

anyways, the popping sound comes a little while after i turn it off. Nothing is wrong with the monitor or anything, but it gets freakin annoying at times...
