I'm stuck between the Samsung 21" CRT mentioned in high-end guide on Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.html?i=2041&p=5) and this Samsung LCD (http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/172x/index2.php) mentioned off the news section on Anandtech today. Both have gotten good reviews and both are similar in price.

I'm coupling either with a stock ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. I can see benefits and drawbacks to each:

Samsung 21" CRT
Pros: No blurring, bigger screen.
Cons: Analog input, possibly will geometry-warp over time, huge.

Samsung 17" LCD
Pros: Crystal clear, DVI connection.
Cons: Possible blurring (although it should be less with the pixel refresh), smaller.

Which monitor would be better recommended?

Until I can get a 20" viewable lcd that offers comparable gaming performance, I have no reason to squint at little 17" screens.

I have a 21inch MAG monitor and I like the larger size of the monitor. Whether reading or playing games it is nice to have the larger size.

I have the 21" Samsung SyncMaster 1100df. I love this monitor. The screen real estate is downright expansive. When I watch movies, it's like watching TV. I can use higher resolutions in games. I can open two browsers side by side without distortion. I can even open a third window, such as MS Word, under the first two if I wanted to do that. The extra space is great for working in photoshop.

The only downside to this thing is the space it takes up and its weight. It's bigger than my microwave. However, that's not an issue in my case.

You will not be disappointed with a 21" monitor. Unless you live in a tiny trailer with no space, get the CRT.
