monitor out of focus

Hello all-
I have a Compaq S910, 19" monitor that I bought from a worthless sack of $#!^ on eBay. It is 'fuzzy,' not in focus. I have opened it up (it's been six months since it had power, save the 'you're gonna die' speech 😉 ) but could not find anything as useful as a focus pot.
Instead, I found around a dozen rings around the end of the tube. They can be twisted to adjust something but I can't see any difference from the minor twiddling that I did.
Does anyone:[*]have a technical manual for the Compaq S910 monitor?
[*]know enough about correcting focus that he or she can walk me through it?
[*]or, know of a cheapish place on the net to get a monitor refurbed?
My wife is stuck with her little laptop screen, so I figure that the sooner I can get this thing fixed, the sooner she'll stop coveting my 21" (no smart comments here)
😀

what refresh rate and resolution are you running it at? if you use a real high refresh rate it might make things look out of focus.

Just because it hasn't had power for along time means it's not dangerous. Unless you discharged the tube it could still hold a charge. Need to find out what brand the monitor actually is.
Since compaq probably rebadged it an get a service manual. If there was a focus adjustment it would probably be 3. One for each gun.
