My Compaq V70 17"color monitor seems to be about to go out, but I would like opinions and/or suggestions from others who may be more knowledgable than I am with monitor problems. I don't think it's a problem with my video card, but just in case, I will tell you that my video card is an Nvidia Vanta , 1280x1224 max resolution running at 800 x600, Compaq V70 17" color monitor. The monitor has begun showing gray vertical bands or shadows on either side of text, graphics, etc. This occurs regardless of which program or file is open, and regardless of height or width positioning.

Can anyone give me an idea if this is my monitor going out and if there is anything I can do to correct it? I did try to degauze the monitor with no change in the problem.
