Monitor or Video Card Issue

Hi, all.

I am no genius when it comes to computers, so forgive me if I sound dumb...

Night before last, I was viewing my emails. I noticed the coloring start to, slightly, flicker. The next thing I knew all of my coloring went to shades of green.

I assumed that our monitor had finally kicked the bucket, but I hooked it up to an old PC and it looks great. It is just green on our newer PC.

I have no clue where to go from here. Any assistane would be greatly appreciated.

It's time for a new Vid card...You can try to reinstall the drivers but doubts if that'll work.

Reinstall the drivers, and then check for bits of crud on the internal connections for the vid card. Two leads crossed by a metal shaving can cause all number of bizzare problems.
Also, if your monitor uses a seperate cable, try replacing that first. I remember fixing a computer for some folks who had noticed that their monitor cound no longer display green. It turned out that their dog had chewed halfway through the monitor cable, piercing the green lead, and stopped when he got his tounge zapped by the current.

I personally believe it is your monitor. My friend had this exact thing happen with his Dell 19" trinitron CRT and hooked to his AIW 9800 pro and you can believe it was not the vid card. He got a new 20.1" flat panel and that runs beautifully. In case you are wondering, the CRT was run using a DVI-VGA adapter and the LCD is pure DVI. We hooked the CRT to another comp and it had the same green problem.

I would still trying cleaning out the connectors before forking over the cash to get a new monitor, but be prepared as that is probably the case.

EDIT* hmmm, did not see that you had hooked it to another PC... if that is clear on the other comp then it just might be the vid card. I assume your cable is attached permanently to your monitor? If not, did you use a different VGA cord with the other PC? You can always try screwing around with your color settings on the monitor itself...
