Monitor not detecting

After moving my brother and my computer stuff, his monitor no longer detected his computer via the dvi port. I know his computer was working, it even allowed us to long into windows, the monitor was just not receiving the video signal. So I decided to test my own monitor on his computer, and still had the same issue. After that I told him id check in the morning for loose cables inside his case. Now here's the weird part, my monitor no longer works on my own computer. I triple checked the wiring to see if the dvi cable was secure, and the power cables. WhAt is the problem here? Did his pc break my monitor? WhAt needs to be done? Thanks for the help, and sorry for the run on paragraph/grammar, I'm not used to my brothers itouch.

I fixed it. I don't want to discuss what was wrong, it would bring shame upon my family.
