Monitor Madness

Hi everyone I'm trying to pick a new monitor and would like some help.

I primarily do word processing and web surfing, but I also play games and am an amateur photographer. So I figure I'm looking for a good general purpose monitor. My Current monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 940 BX 19" not widescreen. I'm still running an overclocked Geforce 7900GS but that will change within the next 6 months so i'm not to worried about pixel pushing capabilities in the long run. I'm willing to consider monitors up to $300, but i'd prefer to spend around $250. I figure that prices out most of the better LCD panels, PVA and IPS, while still leaving room for the good TN panels. If there is anymore information that would be helpful in making a recommendation, let me know!

These are the monitors I have been looking at so far:

Asus VH222H-P 21.5"$160

This looks to be a pretty good value, a decently large screen and not to many frills still has 1080p resolution and a good set of inputs.

Asus VH242HL-P 23.6" $220

Same inputs, same screen, but with 2 extra inches and a better stand. Worth and additional $60? For the same price there is also a 24"version. This monitor is probably my top choice if at the moment, but is it worth the extra?

Samsung 2333SW 23" $200

Less inputs more expensive than the 2.15 Asus, slightly more screen. Possibly higher quality

Samsung 2343 23" $220

I guess this is the newer sibling. Of the Samsungs this is my main consideration. Though it has less screen and less inputs compared to the Asus. I know that samsungs are well built monitors. It is a high density resolution. I know what the means in theory, but not in practice. Any thoughts?

This next monitor is on here for the novelty.
Samsung F2080 20" $250

It is more expensive and smaller than the rest, but it is a CPVA panel. I would appreciate the better panel for my photo editing and long hours working on papers or surfing the internet. I will be running it as a second monitor so for internet and word applications the reduced size doesn't make as big a difference. Obviously it isn't an idea monitor for games due to it's size and slower refresh. On the other hand I am coming from a 19" that isn't wide screen. Is this monitor even worth considering?

Thanks for reading this long question, I tried to do has much research before asking for help!

P.S. can you really tell a difference between 24" and 23.6" or 22"and 24"?

Thanks for responding, do you have that monitor? Is lag actually an issue or just slower then a TN panel. I do enjoy FPS, but am not in any way competitive. I saw somewhere that fast action in movies can cause issues.

Do people really not have opinions on monitors?

It's a little slower then a TN but I prefer the colors and wide view angle.

As far as fast action problems I see that with all LCD so I don't watch movies on them. I have a DLP projector and a CRT.
