Monitor longevity

If a monitor has a recommended resolution, and you run it at something higher, say the max res, will it reduce the life of the monitor, or have any harmful long term effects on it?

Mine says set to 1280 x 1024 @ 85
I have it at 1600 x 1200 @ 85 (the max it will go) Could that mess it up?

It will shorten the lifespan somewhat. Get one with a good 3 year warranty and fry it before it is up.

It had a 3 year warranty, 3 years ago . It's a Sony Trinitron (OEM).

Trinitrons are good. Should last a-ok.
