Monitor keeps randomly turning off...

My uncle's flat panel monitor keeps turning off randomly and apparently requires a reboot to get it going again.

It happes while they are working so it leads me to believe that it might not be power saver mode...

Thoughts ?

My mother has the exact same problem with her Hitachi CML174sxw so I would be interested to hear the outcome of hear.

check obvious stuff like power connections, dvi/vga connection. try turning off various power saving features. try turning off screen saver.

Are you running an ATI card? If you are and have tried all of the above then you may want to check out this discussion at Rage 3D

How old the monitor is? CRT normally 10yrs (3 of mine do) and LCD normally 5-7 years.
