monitor issues

I dont know when it started to happen but i just noticed that my monitor is not as clear as it was before. I have a samsung syncmaster 955sl, I can adjust the focus so that 1 part of the screen is really clear but not the whole screen? Is that a sign of the monitor going bad? the focus command on the monitor has 4 arrows up,down(fv or focus vertical) and left, right(fh or focus horizontal).

The single most common focus problems on monitors comes from having the brightness set too high. Try turning it down and see what happens. I have seen the brightness set so high by some that the picture size grows in a phenomenon called "blooming". The best and most tightly focused monitors sacrifice some brightness in order to have perfect focus in the corners like my Eizo F930.
