My monitor starting flickering a few days ago, not really badly, but it looks like i'm running at 60hz at all times. Does this usually mean my monitor is on it's last legs? I've made sure all the cables are connected well.
Isit actually possible to buy new CRT monitors anymore. If you know where to get decent new ones in the UK please tell. I'll buy a couple to keep me going for the next few years.
if you can find it, i got a samsung syncmaster 997df, and i love it, its only a 19inch crt, but the optimal resolution is 1600x1200 at 75hz.....more than enough for me. and most games as well. i havent had a problem with it yet. but then again, its relativly new.
It will start with flickering, then it will be a solid horizontal white line. Giving the CRT a good whack can fix it, but it will just get worse and worse.
Upon further inspection, it really only flickers badly on light black colored stuff (like my desktop). This flickers like hell, but everything else seems not too bad. What does that mean when it's only having trouble displaying a certain shade of color?
i have a nec multisync 97f ..and it seems to shimmer more than flicker..
on dark colours like..the fog on the enemy territory intro screen ..you can actually see curved bands that sort of shimmer ...and behind that pattern...its like a barely noticable wavy shimmer.
I tried correcting with vertical/horizontal moire ...but the text still shimmers ...barely noticable but still obvious when looking for it. I have poor eyes so that kinda compounds the problem.
