Basically, i play the game counter-strike.

In the game there is different resolutions to chose from. For the longest time ive played on the resolution 1024x768. If i play on 800x600 i get horizontal lines across the screen that are VERY annoying. It reminds me of a horrible TV

Friends monitors' do not look like this, can it just be the type of monitor that i have?

I have a NEC MultiSync 97F on a GF 6600GT, Latest nvidia drivers, is it REALLY just my monitor or is there any type of crazy settings that i can play with to try and fix the setting?

for instance, moire? i dunno D:

Faint lines that appear on your CRT (if it's AG), usually at the top and bottom, but I don't think they change per resolution.

It's just the scanlines becoming visible. You got a narrow beam drawing horizontal lines onto the phosphorous surface - and when those lines don't overlap enough, they become noticeable. It's an artefact of running a low resolution on a high resolution monitor.

If you had control over what the videocard is doing, you could compensate by engaging "line doubling" mode; however, Windows drivers neither let you do that nor do they do this automatically.
