Hi all. This feels like a really stupid question but i cant figure it out for looking.

I have a Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM monitor which is 1920 x 1080 res and supports HD. It doesnt come with a HDMI port, so i bought a display port adapter to put a hd cable from the monitor to the pc (tried to the mobo and gpu) but i havent managed to get it to work.

When i change to the display port theres no picture, so im running a dvi link.

Is it possible im already in hd just from being in 1920 x 1080 res? because the pic looks great, but like i said i dont know about this.

Thanks guys.

Edit:

Just did a screenshot test of the same background image as a friend who is on hd, they look identical. Does this mean my dvi cable is sending through hd or something? also ive seen people complaining about the lack of the HDMI port so i assumed you needed the hd cable conversion to get the hd.

Any thoughts? :)

1920*1080 is HD.

DVI is fully capable of "FullHD" and more. Duallink DVI supports up to 2560*1600.

You can stop worrying and enjoy the view because it is an "HD" view. You don't need HDMI to send "HD" signals, and your DVI is doing just fine sending your monitor an HD signal.

FHD (Full hi definition) = 1080p, 1080p = 1920x1080, and that's your resolution, so you're looking at a FHD picture.
