Monitor has too many resolution options. Can I remove some?

Hi all,

Got an NVIDIA 1080 GTX with a Dell G-Sync monitor. Working great, love it, blah blah.

However, when it comes to changing monitor resolutions, I have *way* too many options that I know that I will never use. When setting up a new game or whatever, it's a PITA to flip through so many resolutions before I finally get to my native resolution (or another resolution that I want via DSR, etc.). First world problems, I know.

I mean, I seriously doubt that I'll ever use 1600x1024 or 1440x900 or 1366x768 or 1280x800 or 1280x768 ever in my life again. Is there a way that I just remove resolutions that I will never use from the overall windows settings?

No, there is no way to remove them, it has always been like this, although increasing resolutions of modern screens do expand the list, they are standardized resolutions on standardized aspect ratios, you can't get rid of them because OS has to retain support in case you switch to differently sized screen or use multiple monitor setup or for whatever other technical reason need to change resolution. I guess no one sets up resolution settings often enough to warrant doing anything with it.

yes, CRU should be able to do it with that monitor. you can modify the resolution list for each display. kind of just a hack, but it works

I do it with every monitor using CRU. It's a great utility. Just delete every non-native resolution and use VSR/DSR to scale other resolutions.
