Could someone tell me if this monitor is any good? -> 18" LCD Monitor

i think brightness and contrast ratio is a bit low
usually 200cd/m^2 and 300:1

how much is it ?

This thing is 629...I was going to get it to hold me over until I get a 21" or so. My old 17" MAG has finally lost it. I figured I would hand it down to wife or kids when I get a real monitor.

With a 50ms response time you sure won't want to do much gaming. In combo with the other spec's this may be indicative of IPS (In Plane Switching) technology which is now apparently being phased out in favor of MVA. THis might explain the low price also. OTH I don't hear anyone complaining about text quality even on previous generation LCDs, so if you are just using it for app's...

So basically this will be fine for standard computing and turn-based games but not good for FPS's?

And figure you can get a 17" by all manner of well known brands (Samsung, Planar, NEC etc) for about the same price.

And BTW: that 18" monitor is down to $599 at PCMall.
