My 21" NEC Multisync has worked great for many years. Now, it is acting like it is about to be recycled. It keeps flickering, gets red, then green, and then blue.

Other than saving space, are there advantages to LCD's? I know a few people with them, who seem to like them. But, I would like to hear what some ATers think on the subject.

They are great even for gaming is my understanding as long as you get a new one, but don't just go by the specs. Before you buy you must see it in real life like at best buy even if you don't want to buy it from there. CRTs still give the truest colors though. For an extremely picky person playing games or watching movies, CRT is still the way to go if you have the space. Other than that go for LCD.

I really like my Dell 2005FPW. It has been great, with no dead pixels and no "backlight" problems. It is not quite as smooth in games, with some slight ghosting, but the extra desktop space and sharp colours and text really make up for the that.

The only other advantages of LCD's i can think of is that they use a lot less power and are much lighter (nice for lan parties).

LCD's are also MUCH easier on the eyes. None of those death rays beaming into your head all day long :)
