Monitor goes into powersave during boot HELP!

I recently tried my monitor on another computer but then put it back on my other system and now whenever the system is started the monitor switches to power save mode. No image is displayed. If disconected it tells you on the screen it is disconected but when connected the monitor is black with the led showing yellow (powersave mode). I tried this with two monitors, a nokia 21" and a viewsonic 19" which the same thing happens to both.

I am running an aopen gf4 4200 card and did originaly have both monitors hooked up to it and working till i tried one monitor on another system. ive have tried every combination of monitors plugging in the different ports both single and together. and have double checked the vid card to make sure its plugged in good too.

Any Ideas?

i really doubt it's monitor or video card problem....

my guess = ur overclocking ur cpu too high or something.....
or cpu is partially dead...or mobo (unlikely it's the mobo)


unless ur speakers are on and u hear the windows logon music....then..umm...i suppose its ur monitor and it died....u knw @ the windows screen....the resolution and refresh rates are @ minimal...then when windows comes up...everything goes to high resolution w/ higher refresh rates...it's hell for the monitor....(NEVER PUT UR MONITOR ABOVE 85 REFRESH RATE ...never!! my awesome sony died when i left it @ 100 for prolonged periods...and look @ other boards...they'lll say the same....85 is optimal and u won't be able to tell the difference btwn 85 and 85+)

so maybe when u installed the monitor on ur friend's comp...his refresh rates and/or resolution was too much for ur monitor @ that given time....(include power inconsistencies and stuff..a right combo can kill ur monitor)...

also some monitors have failsafe devices where if something's way out of spec for the monitor...it just shuts itself off to prevent damage..hopefull this is the case eh?....

sux!...hopefully everything will turn out fine.....but consider what i said...hehehe good lucks dude!

Well the system is not overclocked at all. The System worked great for 2 months with the new vidio card and dual monitors and i pulled the one monior off to test another system and then put it back now neither work. So I dought it is a CPU problem. But thanks for posting I forgot to mention that nothing is OCed at all on the system.

oh so both don't work?...oh sheez....

try the monitor on the other system again.....i'm not too familiar w/ dual monitor setups..maybe if one's dead, the output to the other will not show?....how far into bootup can u see?....try another video card (u live in california?...."borrow" one from frys ) ...gotta isolate the problem by painstaking troubleshooting...yeah i knw, pain in the arse..heheh dohhh....

try having it so that u have only a single monitor setup...see if both monitor works one by one that way....

Actualy the monitors work great they work on the other system just fine. I do not see anything it just goes straight to powersave without displaying anything on them from the get go. So I know its not a monitor problem. hmmm this is a confusing one.

try a single monitor set up.....then go from theretry putting in a different video card to see if it's really a video card problem...
