Hey for anyone using a monitor with a PS4 Pro what make/model are you using? I am using a 55 inch Samsung ks8000 tv. Im playing Fortnite. Want to cut the lag down. Since i have a Pro do i still get a 4k monitor or a 1080p? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks. I guess maybe around 25-27 inches. Less than $500 would be great.

$500 will buy you a better screen than what you're rocking on your computer right now, but for gaming only you might be ok with a TN screen whereas mixed use you might prefer an IPS screen. also, since afaik the ps4 pro does not support freesync, you could get a gsync screen which would work with your computer.

IIRC, the KS8000 series has some of the lowest input lag numbers for a TV which typically is what will have the biggest impact to console gaming. What lag are you referring to? Possibly there is a gaming mode setting?

At 4K, Rtings does show you can get up to 37ms which is a bit high, but if you have HDR on it is only 21ms which is pretty darn good.

You can get as low as about 10ms on a monitor so you can definitely do better, but you might find the TV is fine if you change some settings?

Rtings page I used: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8000

Thanks Tweak155. Going to try a monitor to see how it feels. (Not sure if 21ms vs 5ms or 1ms monitor would make a difference when aiming at a distance. My aim seems to be off) Trying to decide between these 2

Any thoughts? If anyone has a better suggestion please let me know. Thanks

The 5ms or 1ms you're seeing on a monitor is the response time, not the same as input lag. Think of input lag as the delay from getting the image signal from your console to your TV screen, and then the response time of the the monitor to change from image to image.

Response time will impact ghosting more so than controller accuracy... but the input lag will cause a delay from the controller movement to the action you see onto the TV. This is what I think you might be experiencing?

I doubt the response time is going to help you much either way. All modern displays for the most part are pretty dang quick. Likely, the monitor will have a better input lag than a TV, but it's not guaranteed. I imagine it will at least be better than 20ms, but I doubt it will ever be as low as 5ms. Fastest I've heard of is 8ms although I haven't researched it extensively, and you have to do your homework to find it sometimes. It's not a standard spec listed.

the ks8000 w/ ~20ms will be more than adequate for console gaming. The processing lag and 30 fps is already slow enough that ~20ms is fine, getting down to 10ms on a PC monitor won't get you anything perceptible.
