Going to college this fall and I am looking for a monitor to be used for gaming, photo-editing, and PS3/Xbox use. So I would prefer if it has a good refresh rate, good color reproduction (I realize that due to LCD tech and budget this is a long stretch for a consumer grade monitor), and 1080p resolution with 1.1 pixel mapping and quick/easy source switching for PS3/Xbox use.
Currently I am considering the following monitors.
Samsung 2693HM 26" 5ms DVI HDMI
Samsung 245T 24" 6ms HDMI
NEC ASLCD24WMCX-BK 24" 5ms HDMI
The second Samsung is a TFT panel. Is it a lot better than the TN panels and worth the extra $$$? And on the Newegg reviews for both Samsungs, there seems to be a disagreement on pixel mapping and 1.1 scaling for HD sources. What's the word on this? Do these monitors make for decent HD console gaming displays?
Thanks for the help.
