Hello, I'm planning on buying the new GTX 1080 and I have a rig ready to go, all I need right now is a monitor and I am not sure what to get.

I've surfed the web and I found a few monitors (Samsung U28E590D 4K@60hz, ASUS PG27Q/PG27AQ 1440p@144hz/4K@60hz respectively). Now, the 1080 has DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.0B. Will I be facing any issues in that regard? as monitors are still DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 barely. I'm kinda new to all of this so bear with me :).

What monitor should I get? I'm aiming for 4K gaming at the highest settings I can manage. If anyone has suggestions, feel free to write it down! I'm trying to get as much info as I can before deciding.

You guys think the new cards won't be able to handle ultra 4K just yet? maybe, but isn't it better to get 4K and re-adjust resolution on certain games to 1440p to game at ultra instead of having to buy a 4K monitor again next year when the cards are out?

I never really made use of those wide viewing angles so IPS makes no difference to me. But indeed, those are great too though I don't really trust Acer to not mess up somehow. :\

I prefer high-refresh rates anyday to a 4k which maybe will get some real use in the future. So until 4k 120hz comes at somewhat decent prices 2k is much better with those high-RRs.

If you already have a decent monitor, I would wait a while to see if HDR monitors will become available.

no one knows till benchmarks. no need to buy an expensive monitor base on a guess.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Benchmarks are apparently coming out in 2 days, final decision by then.
