monitor flickering

screen is flickering from left to right in about the middle 3rd of the screen (vertically)..

Text is completely illegible in this area. Just started happening today
Samsung syncmaster 950p


Is this the death of my monitor? Or might there be something I can do?

turning the monitor off and on temporarily fixes the problem. (less than 5 minutes though)
