Monitor flicker??

I just upgraded my Nvidia drivers from 12.41 to 12.90 because I heard so many good things about them. And 12.90 were an improvement, not much difference in speed but the visuals in games were an improvement. However my monitor's refresh rate has got me scratching my head. Generally I have my resolution at 1024x768 100hz which is still fine. But when I put the refresh at 85hz, 75hz, or 70hz it flickers but when I go to 60hz it's fine, huh? And this holds true for any resolution I set it at 1280, 800, 640. Anyone know what this is about?
