monitor flicker.

Hello AT. I have a problem with my beloved 24" Dell FPW. It is one of the first models that came out and I have had it for years now. A few weeks ago I booted my computer and there was no picture on the screen. I have isolated the issue to the monitor itself and not the PC. What happens is when the monitor gets a signal it lights up but no picture actually shows up. By light up I mean the dark background becomes illuminated a bit. Yet it is still dark.
Please let me know if there is anything that can be done about this without contacting Dell.

Sounds like the backlite is out. If you really like this monitor (ie, make/model), it probably would be easier & cheaper to just pick up a good used one.

I forgot to mention that I gave it another shot today and it worked for at least two hours. Went for a jog, came back, and it was dark again. That is why I'm posting to see if there is any hope left.

also when i smacked it on the right side of the front bezel, it worked for a bit.
