Board: ASUS B450M-A (not the latest BIOS)
Screen: Iiyama 24" screen, same age as PC (2020), I don't have the model handy, sorry
My only theory is that a BIOS update will fix this, but it's a puzzling problem that I wouldn't ever have expected unless say the screen was a lot older than the computer (they were bought/built at the same time). The screen is typically connected via HDMI, I've tried another HDMI cable which didn't make any difference, but connecting with a VGA cable works fine. I would have updated the BIOS immediately but the board is a type that only will accept the BIOS file from a memory stick with a FAT/FAT32 filesystem which I didn't have handy at the time. One other curious thing is that while connected via VGA, there's a flashing white line that goes along the very top of the screen from the top-left corner to about a third of the way along, but I have complete access to the BIOS regardless of that anomaly.
I tried doing things like factory resetting the screen but it didn't help.
