Hi, I have a pretty old 17" AcerView 76c CRT monitor. About a month ago it would randomly change to a tint of pink. It hasn't gone pink in a while but unfortunately now it just sort of flickers for a sec, and the display gets an inch to large for the screen and it shrinks back down...this happens about once every hour or so. It's sorta scary and I'm glad I'm not prone to seizures.

Basically it's as if the monitor zooms in slightly. But it doesn't get as large as if it were switching between resolutions. Sorry it's sorta hard to describe. It just gets larger for a few split seconds.

Right now I have it on 1024x768, and I've tried it on all the different adpater refresh rates (60-85)

If it's getting old, it could just be that it's nearing the end of its life. Exactly how old is it though?

Here's a link to an extensive monitor repair FAQ. However, some of what it describes involves opening the monitor's casing, which can be really dangerous if you touch the wrong thing. There are a number of capacitors on the circuit board that can store large amounts of power, and the picture tube itself can hold a charge of close to 30KV.

I have the same problem with a KDS 19" monitor that is about five years old. However, mine even randomly goes completely black with the power light still on. I have to turn it off and back on to get it back.
