Ok, so I am going to do an upgrade for the first time in a couple of years, and move to a dual-monitor setup. My trusty old Dell 24", which has served me well for 6 years, will slide over to the side and be replaced with either...

or...

Or possibly some third suggestion if you guys have one, but here is the dilemma: on the one hand I like the idea of LED backlighting and 2ms GTG. On the other hand I hate giving up 120 lines, and I like having a full tilt/height adjustable stand. And 5ms GTG doesn't sound all that bad.

Cliffs...

24" 1920x1200 5ms GTG HDCP/DVI tilt+swivel+height $299

vs.

25" 1920 x 1080 2ms GTG HDCP/HDMI/DVI tilt+swivel $258

Thoughts?

Get the same resolution as your current monitor, otherwise using them both together in a dual setup will look strange, which most definitely means the Samsung. I have been looking for a possible replacement for my aging Gateway FPD2485W (which anandtech reviewed at one point, the price was right and it isn't a horrible display). I started seeing a failing strip of the LCD matrix, which comes and goes randomly on power-on. It is really sad to me when all the panels that even interest me are 2+ years old or more. All the latest ones are 16:9 aspect ratio or have poor color gamut response range, or horrible color push.

The matching resolution argument is a pretty strong one. It's frustrating that I'm looking at a new flat panel with the prospect of fewer lines of resolution than I had available on my 17" NEC CRT 15 farking years ago.

If I go with the 1920x1200, aside from not getting LED backlighting, would I be giving up much in the way of performance or image quality? Is the 2ms vs. 5ms GTG something that is noticeable?
