Well my NEC AccuSync 95F just died on me last night. Cant figure out what exactly happened so I figured I would ask here.
I have 2 set ups, the one with the NEC monitor is
P4 3.0C
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
Radeon 9700 Pro with Catalyst 3.9 Drivers
1 Gig Kingston Hyper X PC3200 Ram
WD 80 Gig HDD
Klipsch 5.1 Speakers
I use this rig for gaming, it is new and I just put it together 2 weeks ago. The game I play in this case is Dark Age of Camelot. Newest expansion, Trials of Atlantis. The games newest expansion was crashing to desktop on me and the people at tech support (for the game) suggested I disable fast writes under SMARTGART in the ATI configuration menu. Which I did. The crashes stopped, game ran fine for about a week or so.
Past few nights in the game the screen would contract on me... just get smaller and smaller and less definition until it would eventually go black. I would power it on and off and it would return to normal for a few then do the same thing.
So, I wanted to see if it was my new PC or what. I moved the monitor over to my older system:
P3 1.4 Gig
Geforce 2 Ultra
etc
it seemed to be fine, even in the game. I ran it for a day or so and then switched the monitor BACK to the original system and it crashed again.. only this time permanently =/
I have no clue what could have caused it. Was it just coincidence and the monitor was just dying on me? It is about 3 years old. Could anything in my new system be causing that? I mean it cant be any voltage setting or anything can it? Monitor plugs into an outlet on the wall not anything on the PC itself other than for data... right?
I was reading something about the ATI drivers suspected of killing monitors. Anyone know anything about this? Any ideas what could have happened? Resolution was 1280 x 768 @75mhz
Confused.
