I had my 17" Viewsonic G773 die on me last night. Walked in the room and I could smell that something had fried. I noticed that my monitor was powered off and it wouldn't power back up. Anyway, after a good 5 years of abuse, she's finally dead.

I'm probably going to buy a 19" CRT because LCD's are out of my price range. I was looking at either buying a Viewsonic P95F+B 19" for $281 from newegg or I was looking at getting a Samsung 955DF-T/T also from newegg for $199. It seems that tomshardware.com really likes the viewsonic and cnandtech.com really likes the Samsung.

Right now I'm leaning towards the viewsonic because of the higher resolutions, higher refresh rates, and also because my parents have the 17" model of this monitor and I think it looks really good. Does anyone have personal experience with these monitors or can anyone recommend a monitor in the same price range that works better?

My personal preference is to stay far away from Viewsonic.

My friend got a Samsung 900NF and it's very sweet.

Cornerstone are also very nice monitors.

I wanted to buy P95F+, too, just couldn't find it under 300$ in Europe...
It's one of the best.

Really depends on if you want Shadow mask or AG type tube then you`ve to factor in the price and refresh rate you need for those high res etc.

AG wise the IIyama VM PRO 454 and Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB are worth looking at,Shadow mask wise I`ve heard good things about the ImageQuest Q910 which`s not expensive.
