Monitor data usage of all devices on my network

Cut the cord and now I have to worry about data cap. Comcast provides a "tool" that measures how much data is used, but I'd like to find another tool to compare.

A) is it worth the effort?
B) can I even dispute if there's a discrepancy?

I'm about 270gb of usage right now for the month, so I think I'm ok, but when winter/summer break comes, the wife and kid will be using a lot more data when they're on break.

What do you guys do?

I use the Darkstat package on my pfsense box, i like the graphs vs some of the mostly text output packages.

I use a old NetMeter 1.1.4 beta for totals day week month etc.
