Has anyone ever had the problem where you put a computer to sleep, try to wake it up a little later, and there is no video on the monitor? The hard disk makes sounds like it has awakened and that all should be normal, but the monitor is still on sleep mode. Sometimes, if I do Control-Alt-Delete a few times, the monitor will wake up and display the windows desktop, just like a good little puppy....
I have replaced the graphics card with a different one; same result. I have changed the USB mouse to a PS2 mouse; same result. I have removed Norton from the system; same result.
The only components that are "new" are the case (Antec Sonata), hard drive (a refurb drive from Western Digital that I got as RMA), the video card (Chaintech FX5200 256MB), and the old Iomega ZIP drive that was in an old Gateway computer.
Any ideas? I have pretty much nixed the video card idea because I have tried a different card, unless it is something wrong with the AGP interface. But then again, you would think I would have more troubles than I am having if it was the interface...
Can anyone help????
