Monitor connection broken?

When I try turning on my computer, nothing appears on the monitor. It sounds like it's booting up correctly, but there is no way of really knowing.

I tried replacing the monitor, but that's not the problem. I don't believe it's the video card either, but I could be wrong. So is my mobo dead?

1. does the hard disc activity led flash during bootup?
2. does the monitor work on another system?
3. do you hear any beeps from the onboard speaker
4. if you turn on speakers/plug in headphones, do you hear the windows sound?
5. if you power on the monitor after the system has appeared to boot, is there anything there? does the power light go from green to orange?
6. what are your system details
7. try pulling the video card out of your system and then powering it on, you should hear one long, one short beep (if not your motherboard/cpu may be faulty)
