monitor choices

hi all --

I'm looking at getting a new monitor. Some of my requirements are, at least 19 inches, widescreen, and flat panel. the 2 monitors I'm looking are:

Samsung SyncMaster 213T-Black 21.3-inch LCD Monitor - saw this at circuit city and was blown away by the size and how clear it looked.

Apple Cinema Display 20-inch LCD - also saw this at the apple store and was impressed.

i'm hooking this up to a PC for now, and perhaps a powerbook in the near future. I plan on using as my main monitor, in my home office. planning on doing some light graphics work -- no insane video/image editing.

i've read some decent reveiws about the apple display on cnet (rated 7.5, good), but have not heard anything about the samsung.

Do you guys have any opinions? or any other monitors I should consider? I can get the apple for about 1,000 and the Samsung at 1100. That's about the max of my budget.

Thanks in advance!

I would go with the 213t. Its what I plan on getting next. I don't really have much knowledge about the Apple one though. But out of all the 20"+ LCDs I have looked at in the under $1200 price range the 213t is the best in my opinion.

The Samsung 213T is an excellent monitor. However if you are planning to play games I recommend a Samsung 193P. Responce time is better on it and image quality is on par with the 213T. Also keep in mind that unless you have $6000 and are overclocking everything gaming in 1600x1200 sucks balls for fps, 1280x1024 native res on the 19 inch is much more manageable.

1280x1024 would definitely be better for gaming IMHO unless you are going to also be getting a new gen graphics card for $500ish. If you do decide to go w/ a bigger monitor DELL has a very nice 20" LCD w/ a fast response time that you might consider. From what I gather the reviews have been pretty good and they run decent deals once and a while that would let you get it for quite a bit under the cost of the apple or the samsung. Both that you are considering are great monitors dont get me wrong!
