Monitor changes tint at random times???!!?!?!?

My monitor is a Compaq MV520 on a GeForce4 Ti4200 and it changes tint at random times. Sometimes it becomes bluer and then greener. Sometimes its just normal. What is going on? Does anybody know? Is the monitor bad or is it the video or something. I have a Epox 8RDA+ w/ AthlonXP 2100 @ 2300mhz.....

i would check your vga connection and cable first. I would also make sure your a/c chord isnt close to the vga cabla. Back in the day, i had a monitor that would do the same thing if the vga and a/c cables were too close to each other. Its a longshot, but give it a try.

I have the same problem with my old (7 year) Nanao T2-17, except mine goes magenta. The images also seem to streak from left to right. It happens on both inputs (BNC and D-Sub) so it's not the cable. It lasts anywhere from a moment up to a minute or two. I think my monitor is just going bad.

I've had the same problem (random but persistent) magenta streaking on LG monitors.
I am currently on my first replacement Flatron 915 FT Plus (19'') and it exibits the exact same problem the one I swapped out had. And LG's service sucks here in Greece. I've been waiting for 2 months for a replacement. So now I'll probably have to take them to court. . Assholes..

If it isn't the cable, one or two of the electron guns is probably dying.

My Samsung 955DF does this...Turns greenish. If i wiggle my monitor cable, it usually fixes it. Does that mean my cable is defective? How can i replace it?

Used to happen to me all the time on my sylvania F74. The color guns are dying. basically, wiggiling thr cord in the back will help for a while, but eventually, it'll have to be replaced.

Same problem on an old IBM ps2 timeframe monitor. It seemed to be the cable, then the video card, but now I know the monitor is just dying.
I use it on the server now...

yea...when i wiggle the cable it helps but then it goes back eventually.........looks like its time for a replacement.........time to check hot deals for monitors.....dammit....wish i had gotten in on the staples monitors deals.

You might want to reseat the video card too, maybe that will help.
