Is there anything that can be done if the monitor cable attached to the monitor has a pin broken and another pin cut in half? I think it would suck that you have to throw the whole monitor away cause of 2 pins.

Anything that can be done about it?

It happened to me some 5-6 years ago. NEC warranty covered repair (even when breaking pins is evidently users fault), as long as as cable was not messed with. You didn't say how old is your monitor (most have 3 yrs warranty). If it's under warranty check with manufacturer, maybe they'll fix it for you. Otherwise you can replace cable yourself. Be aware, that if pins were bent (shorted) while monitor was tried on, it may be fried.

Just buy a different cord and have a TV shop put it in, because it is very high voltage inside there.
Or have a TV repair shop order you one.

Have a TV shop put it in? Well the monitor is a CTX from 1998. Doubt it is still under warranty.

However, having a TV shop put the cable into a monitor? Why would they know how to do that?
