We have a 32-bit application that runs via Windows Task Scheduler. What are some good ways to alert when the application does not run or when it fails?

SNMP will most likely be utilized. I have SNMP set up for many things such as monitoring alerting etc...but this application is proprietary and doesn't have any built-in SNMP support.
