Why do I have a strange feeling this is going to be a question that gets brand loyalty responses :)

Which one to get? the p95 is about $50 cheaper ~250 vs 296

Both companies have been known for good monitors, and both of them seem similar spec wise.

I'm still sorta learning towards the nec however.

As I said they looked similar on paper, but I've seen more popularity of the nec monitor.

NEC/MITSUBISHI IS KING...

...except I don't have one cause it's too expensive.

I figured the NEC would win - now to make some calls to see if I can pick this up locally :)

Wow, I own the p95+ and i can't tell you enough how dissapointed i am/was. I paid 290$ for it about 6 months ago with full intentions on finally having a monitor i could run 16x12 at a good refresh rate and it will look great..blah blah.

no...the monitor specs say that max is like 2048xsomething and that it's optimal at 16x12, it looks like crap at 16x12, and maybe it's my monitor, but i was so dissapointed. The refresh was set high, like 85 hz, but it still hurt my head to look at cause it was fuzzy and just off. Really dissapointing.

Go nec.

ViewSonic A91f+ 19" (18.0" viewable) CRT- I just purchased this one as a second monitor. Next to my sylvania it does look "Ultrabright" but it also has an odd blur to it. I use XP and the Classic Display properties/ effects, basically everything is turned off for performance. It is not my video card causing the blur. Withought the UltraBrite mode on you get a very dullish normal text display. If it is supposed to be easier on the eyes it isn't. You really need to look in the store to view monitors and choose for what you wish to do.

If you are gaming perhaps the ViewSonic monitor does bring in some more "light" to the game, but the font is totally hozed in my opinion and I find myself turning back to my old one to read.

I wish I could actually go and see a good selection of CRT's in person, but sadly we don't have many stores selling higher end items, usually lower/midrange stuff.

I have decided that I will get the NEC, I was going to call around today to see if the possibility of local pickup is avaliable, otherwise I'll be ordering it for $296

It is not the graphics card the p 95 f+ has known issue with slightly blurry text when over 1200 x 960, but I find it uncomfortable reading the letters - blurry or not on higher resolutions. I use 1024 x 768 for that reason - just to small to be comfortable. The viewsonic does look great for games or movies at any resolution.

I'm guessing you do a lot of work that requires seeing multiple or large documents. But for me I only look at word documents and web pages and 1028X768 works for me. I only turn up the resolution for games or movies. Has anybody tried upping the text size in program or in windows like is suggested for LCD's?
