Okay i have a crappy LCD monitor that needs replacing . I need a 17" + monitor that is good for the eyes !! $300 budget :!

please recommend a good monitor :!

Be sure to check out the stickied LCD thread. For 300$ you should be able to get yourself a nice 20-22" widescreen monitor. It would probably be a good thing if you mentioned what you intend on doing with it as well ? Gaming ? Photoshop ? Office work ?
 
Its not the panel type that causes eyestrain, its the brightness.. Find a monitor with no higher than 400cd/m2, prefer lower than 300cd/m2, so you can lower the brightness further and have less strain on eyes.

That is a bad reccomendation.

Adjusting brightness contrast is the most important thing to reduce eye strain. Things like dynamic contrast may reduce strain when switching between colors (personally I dislike this).

Generally you would want a monitor that can achieve a high contrast ratio with a low brightness setting.
