Hello People,

I am still using my good ol' Dell 2407. It has served me greatly, but the backlight has begun to bleed like no tomorrow.

I have grown too used to using a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor. I don't understand the obsession with 16:9 "Full HD monitors" that actually give less viewing area than a 16:10 monitor. Just so weird to me.

Nowadays, everything is 16:9; I can't seem to find a 16:10 that isn't 1) Low-end, like the Dell U2412M "LED" Monitor that only offers 6-bit, 2) slightly outdated, like the Dell U2410 or the Asus PA246Q that is not LED backlit, or 3) Super expensive like the Eizo/NEC range of monitors.

Is there anything out there on par with the U2410, but with LED, and isn't that much more expensive? All I ask for is a decent 24" LED Monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution that does not cost me an arm and a leg.

My budget is perhaps around USD800.

Please help me.

Thank you very much.

The asus and the wide gamut monitors from NEC don't use led. But these are not general use monitors so don't call them outdated if you don't understand the product

Its the same obsession as LED backlit monitors. People narrow their focus or look for specific boxes to check off without knowing exactly the point or why.

I just RMA'd my 2407 back to Dell. Used it almost 5 yrs, it was a great monitor. Had the issue with the wonky power button. Luckily I paid for the 5 yr advanced RMA. They sent me back a U2410 BNIB. TBH, I am no monitor snob but right off the bat this monitor seems at least as good as my old 2407.
