Monitor adjustment can be such a PAIN in the neck

I look forward to the day when all monitors come from the factory with software that can help auto-adjust the monitor geometry settings for you based on your video hardware and Windows/Linux/whatever configuration settings, because I swear, trying to manually adjust a visually perfect geometry is a real b!tch, and next to impossible if the monitor itself is defective in this regards.
And yeah sure even though it's usually just only a one-time adjustment, it can end up turning into twice or even several times that when you or somebody or something else in your house messes your settings up, which is why i've now noted all my monitor settings for future use.

:)

Most decent monitors have the ability to both lock the controls and also to auto-adjust the picture to fill the screen.

Oh really? I've never seen one. Could you please tell me a couple models? I'm interested :)
