moniter flashing onand off then pc shutting down

recently i've had some problems with my computer's speed but a few days ago my pc moniter just turned black, so i clicked and it turned back on, clicked again turned off until after it had done that a few times it just shut down.
some things i know about this problem are that my graphics card says fan stop on it and my cpu sometimes goes above the usual temperature and once when it shut down a hideous sound came through the headphones and the harder the game is to run the sooner it crashes. hopefully some can fill me in on wtf is going on here thx.
 
Are you overclocked? Reset CMOS, or reset your overclock (RAM too), back to stock speeds, and then run the PC for a week and see if it crashes.
