I don't think adding another 10 feet or so would hurt. At the hospital I work at, we have a couple monitors in the Operating rooms that have about 30' cables on them. They are using the BNC inputs though, but it is the same signal coming out of the computer.

Repair shops like Comp USA use KVM switches which by necessity use cable extensions with no degradation.I also had a bad cable which gave me "ghosting",but I replaced it and although I have a 10 foot extender I see no problems.Be advised ,you'll also need to extend any keyboard and mouse cables(don't forget about USB mice),possibly audio speakers and microphone, backup UPS monitor connections.I had to buy a small 2nd UPS so that I could move my primary UPS with the box and keep 2nd UPS for monitor,USB hub,PDA etc..You can run a heavy power extension instead of buying a 2nd UPS.There often is more to these kind of projects than you first realize.

Thx for the tips.

Im going to get a kvm switch with usb once i get my other computer running correctly and i have cables galore in a few drawers.

I may not need an extension for some of it since the cables only need to be about 3ft to get into my closet to where i can hook them up to the computers.

I didnt know you could daisy chain the ups. I thought it would overload one of the outlets you plugged them into. Or would you have to make sure that the voltage and amp ratings are higher on one of them?
