Money Order Question

I mailed a money order off to a friend yesterday. I've never done one before, when I got it from the teller she said to put their address on the bottom and then sign. I filled who it was payable too, the amount was already put in by machine (this was at my Scotia Bank) and underneath that I am sure it said "address of recipient" under which I put their address and then I had to sign it under that. I have a horrible feeling now that I misread and should have put my address down and not theirs. Any idea if this would matter at all, I've been told no but I am just curious. I know I'm an idiot so don't bother telling me.

You did it correct.

😀

Yup, what he said.

And stop second guessing yourself.🙂

Edit: You actually don't even need address, just names would work as well, it worked for me anyways.

dont worry about it..as long as you got the payable to part correct they can cash it..address is not a big deal

So I didn't do the address portion correctly though ? I am going to double check tomorrow at scotia, it pisses me off so much I would make such a moronic mistake.

It doesn't say, it has where I signed and what I signed but it doesnt' say if it was "Recepients Address" or "sender's address" GRR

If that is the case, just have them mail it back to you and cash it yourself.

If their name is in the right place it should be cool, I don't even think they check the address when cashing.

Don't worry about it man... Those things are just like checks...and banks will treat them that way. The address portion is for security in the case that it ever gets lost or misplaced....they're supposed to have an address to send it to and that's why they have them on there. Normally, a check will have your address info at the top of it....same thing for a MO.

I wouldn't worry about the address as much as the PAYABLE TO line ... if the seller's name is not on that line then uh oh.
