Monday Night Combat- guest pass

The game is great fun, I find it a lot like TF2 but with more flexible classes and (for the most part) no hats. I also have a guest pass to give out, same offer.

looks fun anyone have any more guest passes? I'm on the edge about buying it, can't find any info on the web as if it has bot play. I see there are bots but not sure if they add to the multiplayer? I'd like to play it offline until I got my barrings on it.

BlueWeasel if you're still after a pass lemme know, I just bought the game because I gor waiting for a pass.

Only played 2 rounds of single player but it's crazy fun. Good graphics, and a kick ass atmosphere. I can see myself getting into multi-player and spending entire nights playing.

thanks for the pass redshirt. too bad the stupid steam system wasted half of the pass timelimit downloading and updating.

as for the game, the gameplay is tower defense with tf2 style classes.

The maps are simple enough but the interfaces lack some basics like a general bot progress indicator, and a better moneyball shield indicator. The art choices are a little too flashy glowy with way too much of the same red/blue as the characters. With the bots and all the turrets in the same red/blue as all the walls, it is nearly impossible to get a feel for the battleground in a single glance. Very bad for any type of strategic planning. Changing the saturation or brightness values on the colors would fix it easily.

The controls dont seem to suffer much from console-itis, but the buttons are a little goofy when it comes to toggling versus just being a hold-state. More mouse+kb tweaking could help.

The biggest issue I have with it is class balance and the cqb insta-kills.
The spy/assassin just runs rampant and doesnt have any real counters. The tank's laser torch doesnt light her on fire long enough to penalize and no one other than a dashing assault will ever catch her. Also the bots are too slow to target her even if she stabs you right in front of them. There is just no reason not to be an assassin.
The other big problem is there is no incentive for teamwork. Running with other people doesnt help since the auto cqb insta kill isnt interruptable, so there is no penalty for doing the kill in a crowd.

the 3rd person view is bad for actual gameplay, it messes with my sense of location and movement and makes it harder to get as sense of who is flanking you. the camera swivels around an offset pivot so turning feels weird.
Its ok if you just want to see the pretty char model designs.
